Welcome

I am a software developer who specializes in Microsoft technologies. I specialize in Microsoft Classic ASP, ASP.Net, ASP.Net MVC, SQL Server, SharePoint, Windows Phone 7, Windows Forms, WPF, and Dynamics GP and CRM. I am an early adopter of technology. I ran a BBS (Bulletin Board System) prior to the Internet being available called The Cutting Edge with some success in the early 90’s. I’m an avid woodworker during my off hours and spend time remodeling a fixer upper for enjoyment and time in the offline (real) world.

I design and build amazing websites.

Web design

This is the formation of the interface that your website visitors see. Having a good site design and user interface (UI) is paramont to any sites success. Too many bells and whistles will distract your customers from what is important.

Backend Programming

This is the behind the scene that is responsible for producing the quality product for the information that is presented to your website visitors.

Search Engine Optimization

Having a presence on the Internet is just the start. Once it is created you need to make certain the search engines can find you. I will never guarantee you will have a position one spot right away but with a solid plan, ongoing monitoring, and conitnual updates I will get you there.

Company

Prior to leaving my previous employer I had talked with family and friends on what I should do as I wasn’t happy with the current culture of where I was or what I saw coming down. The overall points that came out of those conversations was to change jobs or to start my own business doing what I love. Being just leaving one employer and starting a new business would mean initially starting with no income I decided on a two prong approach that met the needs of my family first. The first was find a new employer and start the business process of establishing my own business a year or two down the road.

With the knowledge that there was either a lack of experience or lack of desire to produce the highest quality websites around the area I did start creating a social media Facebook page and my company page even though I wasn’t planning on doing anything with them at the time. This way it would keep it forefront in my mind while also putting it on my radar to start working on when I had available free time.

After starting out at my new employer I found I had more free hours than I had previously thought I would have as I was previously working 16-20 hours per day. I had been asked by some friends to help them with their companies they were starting as they couldn’t find a web design company in the area that could meet there needs. I started the process for getting my business started faster than I originally had intended so that I could help out my friends. I then contacted my friends I previously had talked with for advice on the right approach to take. They wanted to be a part of the new company as well and I thought this was a great opportunity not only for myself but incorporating their unique skills that I didn’t have as well. We came up with our core company values of honesty, integrity, high-quality services, do it right or don’t do it at all, be as green to the environment as possible, and to always put the customer above any internal company needs which would be the foundation for defining everything that we do. There were many other core company values we wrote down but these were the first ones that truly had meaning to everyone. We also decided that the only way to cultivate an environment for growth in the local area was to promote technology in the local college system; Purdue North Central. As such, part of the core goal was to establish a scholarship program starting in the fall of 2013 for Purdue North Central Technology students.

With all of this decided we all bit the bullet and started the LLC process for our company we decided to call JM2 Webdesigners as that was going to be our primary business focus. We would get our web servers, SQL (database) (pronounced sequel) servers, and our enterprise class mail servers. We wanted redundancy and reliability at the forefront in these systems. We also knew we didn’t want to have to hire an entire team for our IT (Information Technology) as we were new and wanted to focus on what we do best; web design. We researched high-quality companies that focused on having redundant, high-speed networks, 24x7 security, automatic backups of all of our data in an encrypted and secure manner, and were as energy efficient as possible (wind powered for the primary energy source) but also with solar, electricity and diesel generators for backup. We found a company that had key locations distributed across the United States and the information was able to be easily replicated between all of the servers via high-speed and secure connections.
